ALCADEV Inc. was formally recognized by SAINT SCHOLASTICA’S COLLEGE (SSC) MANILA as one of its adopted schools. This was affirmed after Sr. Mary Thomas Prado, OSB the President of Saint Scholasticas College Manila and Marife Magbanua, Executive Director of ALCADEV affixed their signatures in an agreement witnessed by Hon. Leo Navarro Mayor of Marihatag and Chairperson of MAPASU Organization Jalandoni Campos on November 12, 2011 at ALCADEV Function Hall, Han-ayan, Ditagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. A short program was attended by ALCADEV staff and learners, community members, leaders, manigaun and tribal chieftains.
In a teary-eyed speech Jalandoni Campos said “ There were times in our lives in one of our evacuations where the words of God became a struggle for us, that we need to assert to some of the religious people that we too deserved it. Now, we are thankful to SSC and OSB sisters for journeying with us.” In a response message, Sr Mary Thomas said “Beginning today,you will no longer call us visitors but partners. Every time OSB and SCC faculty and staff arrives, do not call us visitors but partners” a loud clapping of hands filled the venue as Sr Mary Thomas ended her speech.
The Missionary Benedictine Sisters (OSB) and SSC have been helping Lumad communities under MAPASU Organization , ALCADEV and TRIFPSS schools since 2005.SSC based in Manila , is one of the schools in the Philippines with long history of educational service.
